A Digital Marketeer does a lot! Let’s take a quick look at my areas of expertise below.
Having found my marketing start in the esports (online competitive gaming) industry, I’ve quickly come to realize that the best content is free. Free to your customers at least, or fans as we call them. Giving your target audience something they want for free works wonders for your brand and their loyalty. Hell, try giving them something they didn’t even know they wanted and watch the buzz surrounding your company explode.
That’s where content marketing comes in as well as myself. The content you’re giving away needs to have a value for your fans and I love figuring out what that value might be. It can be an interview with everyone’s favorite personality or an infographic with detailed stats and insights of the past year. It can be a serious video talking about a hot topic within your fan base or a funny and creative tweet about the latest internet meme.
I love to think about this kind of content and create it because it’s very rewarding to get all kinds of feedback from those who consume it. If they enjoyed it then it means we’re on the right track and our brand awareness grows, if it doesn’t take off then that means that we’ve got a new challenge ahead of us: to figure out why and improve!
Social Media Marketing
Content marketing goes hand in hand with social media marketing. After all, it’s foolish to expect your (prospective) clients to just find your content when it’s hidden away on the company website or a newly created YouTube channel.
Each social platform has their own rules and keeping up with the latest changes on all of them is what makes social media marketing not only super interesting to me but also gives your company the edge in being seen online. When was the last time you checked what people are saying about your brand or even the product category it’s in? If you have to think about it then you’re missing out!
Social media also has some very powerful advertising tools that will deliver your brand in front of the demographic of your choosing.
Digital marketing doesn’t start or end with content and social media. I tend to put a lot of focus on the tactics above but I’m also knowledgeable about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), SEA (Search Engine Advertising), Google Analytics and Email marketing among others. My strength is adapting to the task at hand by diving into all the resources I can find.
